Meta accidentally showed off new smart glasses with a display

- 16 September, 09:47 AM

Meta has prematurely shown off two models of its smart glasses in a video that has since been removed. The video was posted on the Ray-Ban channel, as UploadVR reports. The devices are likely to be among the main announcements at this week's Meta Connect conference.

The video revealed that the Ray-Ban Display glasses will be equipped with a screen in the right lens. The video demonstrated usage scenarios: displaying a map with route guidance, real-time translation, accessing Meta AI, and writing messages. A bracelet with sEMG (surface electromyography) technology is provided for control, which reads electrical signals from the muscles of the hand, allowing the user to "write" text in the air or execute commands with gestures.

The second model, Oakley Sphaera, has a streamlined design with a camera in the bridge of the nose and will likely be focused on recording video and photos from the user's perspective.

Meta has been actively developing wearables since launching the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses in 2023, which allowed for photo, video, and voice assistant functionality. Now, the company is looking to integrate a display and advanced interaction with Meta AI to make the glasses more versatile.

The official presentation of the new devices is expected at the Meta Connect conference on September 17, 2025. The event will be hosted by the company's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.
