Wallbox has announced the launch of the Quasar 2 bidirectional charger, which will allow Kia EV9 electric car owners to use their cars as a power source for their homes.
As The Verge reports with reference to the KIA Global Media Center, this device, which is available for pre-order in the US, can charge a car or supply energy from its battery to support the operation of home appliances during a power outage.

The system requires a dedicated energy recovery unit that plugs into your home’s electrical grid. In addition, EV9 owners must have an electrical system with at least 200 amps and a permit from the utility company to install it. The Quasar 2 also supports solar power, allowing you to charge your car or power your home with solar panels.
This technology allows you to save electricity by using stored energy during peak hours, and also provides backup power for up to three days. Quasar 2 will be available in the US in June this year.
