Legendary game designer Brendan PlayerUnknown Green, creator of H1Z1: Battle Royale and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, has announced his new project - a single-player open-world survival game Prologue: Go Wayback! The game has received a trailer and a Steam page.

According to the developers themselves, Prologue: Go Wayback! is the second of three games from PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions, which will be both a standalone gaming experience and building blocks for the future ultimate project of the Artemis studio. Actually, Prologue: Go Wayback! should test the technology of creating terrain based on machine learning, which allows you to instantly construct millions of maps. And Project Artemis will be a large-scale multiplayer sandbox that will use technologies tested and improved in the games Preface: Undiscovered World and Prologue: Go Wayback!.

Interestingly, Preface: Undiscovered World, which was released in December 2024 and is nothing more than a free technology demonstrator, received extremely negative reviews from Steam users and currently has a rating of 38/100. The demo was tried by no more than 3 thousand players.

However, Prologue: Go Wayback! will still be a full-fledged game where players will be able to explore the ever-changing wildlife, monitor calorie consumption, body temperature, find and maintain shelter for the night. That is, all the basic mechanics of survival games are present here.

Prologue: Go Wayback! uses the Unreal Engine and P LAYERUNKNOWN Productions' own machine learning technology. Project Artemis will use its own game engine, Melba, which will receive all the technologies tested in previous projects.

Brendan Green himself left the active development of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds back in 2019, returned to the Netherlands and created the PUBG Special Projects studio, which is actually involved in the Preface, Prologue, and Artemis projects.

Prologue: Go Wayback! is scheduled to be released in Early Access on Steam in the summer of 2025 with a price tag of $20.
