Microsoft launches Copilot Vision with extensive features for Windows

- 16 June, 03:33 AM

Microsoft has announced Copilot Vision, a new feature for Windows that extends the capabilities of Copilot artificial intelligence. This update allows AI to analyze visual information on the screen, interact with applications, and assist users with various tasks.

Copilot Vision will be able to help users edit images, improve document design, select optimal images for publications and use visual information to add text to documents. In addition, this artificial intelligence is now able to speak its answers in real time, supplementing them with text, images and translations. Users can also give Copilot access to two applications at the same time for visual interaction.

To ensure data protection, Microsoft says that Copilot Vision does not store visual information or use it to train the AI. However, Copilot's responses will be monitored for harmful content, and the voice-to-text transcript will be stored until manually deleted. However, the system blocks viewing of DRM-protected media files and those with adult or harmful content.

Copilot Vision is currently available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 in the US and is activated on demand by the user by clicking on the dedicated Vision icon. The feature will later be available in other countries outside the European Union.

This is because Copilot Vision falls under the EU's Digital Markets Act, which imposes strict requirements on big tech companies regarding data collection, privacy, and service integration. As a result, Microsoft has been forced to adapt or limit its products to comply with European regulations.
