Porsche will update the infotainment system in the car model range for 2026
Porsche will update the infotainment system in the Taycan, 911, Panamera and Cayenne for the 2026 model year. The cars will receive "more responsive" software and support for other features, such as the Alexa assistant, writes The Verge.
2026 Porsche Communication Management (PCM) will get the App Center, which was introduced in the electric Macan. This app store will provide access to a large number of applications and services that can be launched on the touchscreen. The company representative also said that the new cars will use the MIB3 architecture introduced in 2022, rather than Google's Android Automotive system.
Porsche's car apps will reduce the need for drivers to use smartphones and systems such as Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but these systems will remain in the cars.
In addition, the automaker will provide 10 years of Porsche Connect service for new cars to "optimize the digital user experience." Part of these changes will include the introduction of Amazon's Alexa assistant, which will complement Porsche's Voice Pilot. Alexa will be able to play music and podcasts, open the garage door, edit to-do and shopping lists, and more.
The new PCM system will also support Dolby Atmos in car models equipped with premium audio equipment such as Bose.
