It seems that Apple has decided to abandon the release of the plastic Apple Watch SE, according to insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman in a new report from Power On.
According to Gurman, the release of the plastic Apple Watch SE was under threat for two reasons: design issues and cost.
"The design team doesn’t like the look, and the operations team is finding it difficult to make the casing materially cheaper than the current aluminum chassis," Gurman noted.
The foodie first mentioned the possibility of a plastic Apple Watch SE in 2024. A more affordable Apple Watch SE with a bright plastic design could interest parents who want to buy an Apple smartwatch for their children.
Recall that the current version of the Apple Watch SE was released in 2022 and costs from $249.
By the way, Gurman also said that Apple plans to add a camera and artificial intelligence to its watches in the future.
