Perplexity launches Comet browser with artificial intelligence
0

AI startup Perplexity has introduced its own Internet browser Comet, which is focused on the use of artificial intelligence. This is reported by TechCrunch. At the heart of Comet is the built-in and by default installed search AI system Perplexity, which generates a concise summary of search results. The browser also offers a unique virtual assistant - Comet Assistant, capable of performing routine tasks for the user.

Comet Assistant is designed to automate tasks such as summarizing email, managing calendar events, navigating between tabs, and interacting with web pages on behalf of the user. However, to fully use the assistant, you need to grant access to sensitive data, including email, calendar, and screen. While Comet Assistant is quite effective with email and scheduling, it can be inaccurate when performing more complex tasks (such as bookings).

The browser is currently only available to Perplexity Max subscribers ($200 per month) and a limited number of users on a waiting list. Perplexity previously said that it sees Comet as "an operating system that can do almost anything," aiming to integrate the company's artificial intelligence into a variety of applications and web resources.

Comet is based on the Chromium engine and is available on macOS and Windows. The company also plans to release versions for Android and iOS in the coming months.

By the way, information previously appeared that Apple may buy the startup Perplexity AI to strengthen its developments in the field of artificial intelligence.
