Palantir, which specializes in creating software for analyzing big data, will collaborate with the Nuclear Company to develop artificial intelligence software that will help in the construction of nuclear reactors, Reuters reports.
Palantir and the Nuclear Company will team up to create a nuclear operating system (NOS) that aims to simplify the construction of reactors. As a result, it will also help reduce costs and speed up construction.
Under the new agreement, Nuclear Company will pay Palantir about $100 million over the five-year period during which NOS is planned to be developed.
This collaboration is especially important as many companies, including tech companies, are increasingly interested in nuclear power. In May, the US president signed an executive order to expand nuclear power generation in response to growing demand from data centers and artificial intelligence developers.
According to the executive order signed by Trump, the independent US Nuclear Regulatory Commission should simplify the regulatory framework and speed up the issuance of licenses for the construction of new reactors and power plants.
Recall that in early June, Meta signed a 20-year agreement with Constellation Energy Corp to supply electricity from a nuclear plant in Illinois. Nuclear energy, which is considered cleaner than fossil fuels and more reliable than solar or wind, is also of interest to Amazon, Google, Microsoft and other large companies.
