iOS 19 will not be available for iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max - insider
As MacRumors reports, citing an insider who previously accurately reported on the compatibility of Apple devices, iOS 19 will not support the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.
These models are powered by the A12 Bionic chip. This means that iOS 19 will no longer support this processor. All other iPhones that can run iOS 18 are expected to get iOS 19. Here is the full list of compatible devices:
- iPhone 16 Series : iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 15 Series : iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 14 Series : iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 13 Series : iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 series : iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 11 Series : iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2nd generation and later)
While these models will support iOS 19 , some features will only be available on newer iPhones with more powerful processors. For example, Apple Intelligence in iOS 18 only works on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models.
As for iPadOS 19, the system is expected to drop support for the 7th generation iPad with the A10 Fusion chip, but iPads with the A12 Bionic, including the iPad mini 5, will remain compatible.
By the way, Apple will introduce iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 at the WWDC 2025 conference, which will begin on June 9.
