TikTok has until April to complete a deal to sell the company to the U.S., but its future remains uncertain. But according to The Information, Oracle is a key contender to be TikTok’s cloud partner for the U.S.
Sources, including investors, bankers and former executives familiar with ByteDance's operations, said the company prefers Oracle over other cloud providers.
By the way, since 2022, TikTok has already been storing data of American users on Oracle servers, which increases the likelihood of choosing this company for a future partnership.
Despite this, ByteDance likely does not plan to completely lose control of TikTok and aims to remain involved in the platform's operations, while Oracle will act as a technology partner.
In addition, US President Donald Trump supports the idea of Oracle's participation in the deal.
