OpenAI announced at its annual DevDay 2025 conference the launch of a new feature that allows users to interact with third-party applications directly in ChatGPT, TechCrunch reports.

ChatGPT now supports interactive tools from services such as Booking.com, Expedia, Spotify, Figma, Coursera, Zillow, and Canva. A pre-release SDK is also available for developers to create their own applications for integration into the ChatGPT environment.

Unlike the previous GPT Store, which existed as a separate platform, the new system embeds apps directly into chatbot responses. This allows users to call third-party services in a normal dialog. For example, you can ask Figma to turn a sketch into a diagram or contact Coursera to request a machine learning course. On Zillow, users can search for apartments in their area based on a given budget and view an interactive map with the results.

ChatGPT will also automatically suggest apps if they might be useful. For example, when asked to create a music playlist, the system can connect Spotify. In the future, integrations with DoorDash, Instacart, Uber, and AllTrails are planned.

Technically, the new feature is based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows you to connect external data sources and display the interactive interface of applications in responses. Some applications support video playback, and users with active subscriptions to the platforms will be able to log in to their accounts directly through ChatGPT.

OpenAI also announced plans to monetize integrated apps, including through Instant Checkout. At the same time, the company emphasized that developers should collect only the minimum data necessary and be transparent about permissions. However, the issue of third-party services accessing users' conversation history remains open.
