OpenAI sued Elon Musk for hindering the company's development
OpenAI has filed a counter-suit against Elon Musk, accusing him of deliberately slowing down the company's development for personal gain.
"Elon’s nonstop actions against us are just bad-faith tactics to slow down OpenAI and seize control of the leading AI innovations for his personal benefit," the lawsuit states.
In 2024, Elon Musk filed a lawsuit to stop OpenAI from moving to a commercial model. His goal was to force the company to "return to its mission of developing AI for the benefit of humanity." The court denied Musk’s motion for an injunction, but granted an expedited hearing on the merits.
Musk then made an offer to acquire OpenAI for $97.4 billion, but the OpenAI board of directors unanimously rejected the offer.
"Musk’s continued attacks on OpenAI, culminating most recently in the fake takeover bid designed to disrupt OpenAI’s future, must cease. Musk should be enjoined from further unlawful and unfair action, and held responsible for the damage he has already caused," OpenAI wrote in the lawsuit.
