OpenAI is developing its own artificial intelligence-powered recruiting and job search platform, called the OpenAI Jobs Platform, and is scheduled to launch in mid-2026, TechCrunch reports.
The project was introduced by OpenAI’s Director of Applications Fiji Simo on the company’s blog. According to her, the system will use AI algorithms to accurately match candidates according to employers’ requirements. A separate direction is planned for small businesses and local governments, which will be able to access AI experts.
The platform is part of OpenAI’s strategy to expand beyond its core ChatGPT product. CEO Sam Altman said Simo will oversee several new applications, including the OpenAI Jobs Platform, as well as potentially other services, including a web browser and a social networking app.
The launch of the new platform will put OpenAI in direct competition with LinkedIn, which is owned by Microsoft, OpenAI’s largest investor. LinkedIn, in turn, has been actively implementing AI tools to improve recruitment over the past year.
Many tech executives have warned that the rise of artificial intelligence could lead to the elimination of a significant number of traditional jobs. For example, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said that by 2030, AI-driven automation could lead to the disappearance of about half of entry-level jobs.
In her post, Fiji Simo also acknowledged this, but noted that OpenAI cannot completely prevent these changes, but can contribute by helping people become fluent in artificial intelligence by connecting them with companies that need their skills.
