OpenAI is looking (via TechCrunch) at integrating its ChatGPT Login feature into third-party apps, which could significantly expand its presence in the digital services space.
OpenAI is currently gauging developer interest in the feature, which would allow users to log into various services using their ChatGPT account. It could be a competitive alternative to similar solutions from Apple, Google, and Microsoft, which already offer quick access to third-party apps.
ChatGPT is rapidly gaining popularity and already has about 600 million monthly active users. OpenAI aims to use this success to expand its activities in the areas of online shopping, social networks and other services.
The company previously launched a beta version of the ChatGPT login feature for developers in Codex CLI, an AI-powered programming tool. Developers can connect their ChatGPT Free, Plus, or Pro accounts to the API. Plus and Pro users were offered bonuses in the form of API credits.
The company is currently actively gathering data on potential partners, asking developers about their audience size and current monetization models. It is not yet known when the feature will be available to the general public.
