OpenAI is launching a feature that will allow users to search for products in ChatGPT and proceed to purchase on the seller's website. The innovation will work for all users — even without authorization in the account. This is reported by Wired.
In response to a user's request, the chatbot will offer several product options from different marketplaces, based on the user's preferences and product reviews.
ChatGPT doesn’t use algorithms like Google that pull products up based on keywords and SEO. Instead, the model analyzes what people are saying about the product, what pros and cons are mentioned in reviews, and generates more personalized recommendations. Users will also be able to choose which sources — media reviews or user reviews — are more important for analyzing a product.
This isn't the company's first foray into online shopping. Earlier this year, OpenAI launched an agent called Operator, which can interact with a browser instead of a user.
