Ray-Ban smart glasses get new AI features and colors

Meta and EssilorLuxottica are bringing AI features to Ray-Ban smart glasses, introducing new colors for the Ray-Ban Skyler and expanding the glasses’ availability to new markets.

The Ray-Ban Skyler has been updated with new colors: Skyler Shiny Chalky Gray with sapphire Transitions lenses for everyday wear, and Skyler Shiny Black with clear or green G15 lenses. In addition, the availability of smart glasses has been expanded and they are now available in Mexico, India and the United Arab Emirates.

A new update to Meta AI brings real-time translation to all Spectacles owners this week. Users will be able to get translations in English, Spanish, French, and Italian. In addition, the translation will be available without the need for an internet connection.

Another feature planned for a later release is the ability for the AI assistant to see what the user sees and interact with them more naturally. This will allow users to ask questions about specific objects, items, places, etc. they see around them.

Communication capabilities will also be expanded. Spectacles owners will be able to send and receive messages, photos, and make audio and video calls through Instagram. This will expand on existing integration with WhatsApp, Messenger, and the standard SMS application on the smartphone.

The update also adds a few useful features for listening to music. In particular, Meta is expanding support for Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Shazam beyond North America. In addition, in most regions, users will be able to control music playback and get song information if they use the English language of the system.
