OnePlus has announced the global launch of its mid-range smartphones, the Nord 5 and Nord CE5. Both models offer cutting-edge specs, a focus on artificial intelligence, and maximum battery life, GMSArena reports.

OnePlus Nord 5

The smartphone is equipped with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor - an energy-efficient version of the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. The smartphone has 8 or 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage (UFS 3.1).

The screen is a 6.83-inch AMOLED with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, a resolution of 2800×1272 pixels, a brightness of up to 1400 nits, and HDR10+ support.

On the back is a 50MP main camera with optical stabilization and an 8MP ultra-wide module. The front camera is also 50MP with autofocus. 4K video recording is supported at up to 60fps, but optical stabilization is only available for 1080p/30fps.

The company has also replaced the traditional volume slider with a new Plus Key button that activates the company's AI feature Mind Space. It reads and processes information from screenshots, generates reminders, transcribes calls, offers AI suggestions for messages, and provides real-time translation. The data is processed in a local "cloud" environment that OnePlus calls Private Computing Cloud.

The battery varies by region: 6800 mAh in Asia, 5200 mAh in Europe due to EU regulatory restrictions on transporting large batteries. Both variants feature 80W fast charging and bypass charging during gameplay.

The OnePlus Nord 5 is available in three colors: Marble Sands (white and cream), Dry Ice (blue and gray), and Phantom Gray (dark gray). While the back is made of glass, OnePlus uses plastic for the frame, which is a step back from the metal of the Nord 4.

The OnePlus Nord 5 will cost €449 for the 8/256 GB version and €499 for the 12/512 GB version.

OnePlus Nord CE5: more affordable, but no less durable

The more budget-friendly OnePlus Nord CE5 features a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor and up to 12GB of RAM. Storage is up to 256GB with microSD support.

The display is a 6.77-inch AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate, Full HD+ resolution, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. HDR10+ is supported.

Cameras: main pair 50 MP + 8 MP (wide-angle), front - 16 MP without autofocus. Video recording in 4K from the main camera and in 1080p from the front is supported.

Battery — 7100 mAh for Asia and 5200 mAh for Europe, charging — 80 W.

The AI features in the Nord CE5 are more modest - without Mind Space, but with support for transcription, text suggestions, and generative photo editing.

Both smartphones will run Android 15 with OxygenOS on top, and the company claims 4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates.

The price of the OnePlus Nord 5 CE5 will be €299 for the 8/128 GB version and €349 for the 8/256 GB version.

Sales have already started in the UK.

In addition to smartphones, OnePlus also introduced new OnePlus Buds 4 headphones and a 43mm version of the Watch 3 smartwatch.
