Some iOS 26 features will be unavailable in Europe due to strict EU regulations

- 3 July, 03:28 PM

According to a source, due to strict restrictions in the EU under the Digital Markets Act, some new features of the new iOS 26 operating system will either arrive in Europe later or not at all. This was reported by Kyle Andeer, president of Apple's legal department. This concerns iPhone screen mirroring on Mac, Live Activities, and there are also rumors of AirDrop being disabled.

Apple argues that the European DMA law is detrimental to the company by requiring it to disclose certain technologies to third parties. Apple also argues that the privacy requirements under the law are unrealistic. Moreover, Apple argues that the law benefits companies like Meta, which exploits the DMA requirements and obtains technology and user data that have nothing to do with the core services of Facebook or Instagram.

Apple is forced to delay the release of products and features because the EU makes it difficult to comply with all the rules that do not apply to all companies equally. Apple's official position is that the DMA is not designed to protect customers, but to give advantages to certain companies.
