NVIDIA has become the first company in the world to reach a market capitalization of $4 trillion, Ars Technica reports. The stock rose more than 2%, allowing the tech giant to overtake Apple, which held the previous record of $3.8 trillion in December 2024.

Interest in AI, which has continued since the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, is supporting demand for NVIDIA’s data center GPUs. The company controls a significant market share thanks to its proprietary CUDA platform, which has become the standard for developing AI solutions.

NVIDIA shares have increased by 22% since the beginning of 2025, and the company's capitalization has doubled since February 2024. NVIDIA chips are actively used in services of OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, and other companies that require powerful equipment for generative models.

Despite U.S. restrictions on the export of high-tech chips to China and fines of $5.5 billion, the company is adapting by creating special limited edition GPUs. According to CEO Jensen Huang, China brings in about $50 billion for the company.

There is also ongoing cooperation with the Trump administration, which is demanding investments in local data centers in exchange for possible easing of restrictions. However, the US president's policy remains unpredictable.

However, analysts warn that while NVIDIA has led the market, spending on AI infrastructure by tech giants may prove unjustified if the industry fails to deliver the expected results.
