NVIDIA overtook Microsoft and regained its status as the most valuable company in the world
NVIDIA has overtaken Microsoft in market capitalization, once again becoming the world's most valuable public company, CNBC reports.
Shares of the artificial intelligence chip maker rose about 3% to $141.40 on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Overall, they are up nearly 24% for the month, despite concerns about export restrictions and tariffs.
NVIDIA's current market value is $3.45 trillion, while Microsoft closed trading with a market capitalization of $3.44 trillion. Since June 2024, NVIDIA has periodically traded places at the top of the list of most valuable companies with Apple and Microsoft. It last topped the list on January 24.
NVIDIA's growth also had a positive impact on other technology companies: Broadcom shares rose 3%, Micron Technology - 4%, and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF index, which reflects the dynamics of the chip market, rose 2%.
Last week, the company reported adjusted earnings of 96 cents per share and revenue of $44.06 billion for its fiscal first quarter, up 69% from the same period last year.
The main driver of success was AI chips, which are widely used by companies like OpenAI to create products like ChatGPT.
Microsoft, Meta, Google, Amazon, Oracle, and xAI are massively purchasing NVIDIA accelerators to create powerful computing clusters for advanced AI tasks.
As a reminder, NVIDIA was founded in 1993 as a manufacturer of graphics chips for 3D games. However, its technologies later proved to be ideal for data processing in the field of artificial intelligence, which gave the company a new impetus to rapid growth.
