NVIDIA is working on its own ARM-based processor, which could debut in Alienware laptops as early as late 2025 or early 2026, according to Taiwanese publication United Daily News.
This is a new hybrid processor (APU) that will combine an ARM-based CPU and a GPU based on the Blackwell architecture. The development is being carried out in collaboration with MediaTek. The chip is expected to have a thermal package of 80 to 120 watts.
NVIDIA already has its own niche in the gaming laptop market with Intel and AMD processors. However, its own ARM-based solution could significantly improve the situation with Windows for ARM gaming. In comparison, Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chips currently require emulation through Prism and have limited compatibility with games.
NVIDIA's ARM chip development was first reported in 2023. In January 2025, the company's CEO Jensen Huang confirmed plans to use this CPU in the Digits AI computer. At the same time, Dell CEO Michael Dell hinted at a possible collaboration with NVIDIA in the field of AI-PC.
NVIDIA isn't the only manufacturer trying to strengthen its position in the ARM segment. MediaTek and AMD are also preparing their solutions - the latter is rumored to be developing a chip for the Microsoft Surface line.
