NVIDIA and Broadcom conducted several chip production tests with Intel

Chipmakers NVIDIA and Broadcom have conducted two new, previously unreported tests of Intel's manufacturing capabilities. If the tests are successful and both companies are satisfied, Intel could receive contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars, Reuters reports.

For the test production, NVIDIA and Broadcom used the 18A manufacturing process that Intel has been developing for the past few years. This process allows for the production of advanced AI processors and other chips that can compete with similar technologies from the world's largest chipmaker TSMC.

Another company that has shown interest in Intel's manufacturing capabilities, particularly the 18A process, is Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). However, it is not yet known whether the company has sent its chips for testing.

The tests are not performed on fully completed chip designs, but are aimed at determining the behavior and capabilities of the Intel 18A process. Chip designers use such tests to verify individual chip components and identify potential flaws before full production begins.
