Nintendo has raised prices for its first-generation Switch console in the US due to "market conditions." The base model of the Switch, which has cost $299.99 since its release in 2017, is now selling for $339.99 on the company's official store, The Verge reports.

The price increase applies to all first-generation models. The Switch OLED went up from $349.99 to $399.99, and the Switch Lite went up from $199.99 to $229.99. The Joy-Con controllers also went up $10 (to $89.99) and the Alarmo alarm clock went up $10 (to $109.99).

The changes came just after President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing new "reciprocal" tariffs on a number of countries, including Vietnam, where Nintendo has moved most of its production.

Trump's new tariffs include a 20% levy on goods imported from Vietnam, which could have influenced Nintendo's decision to raise prices. The prices of the Switch 2 console, as well as Switch and Switch 2 games (both physical and digital), remained unchanged.

In Europe, the console prices have remained unchanged for now: the standard Switch costs €299.99/£259.99, the Switch Lite costs €199.99/£199.99, and the Switch OLED costs €349.99/£309.99.

Recall that with the release of Switch 2, Nintendo set a record by selling 5.8 million consoles in the first month.
