The console will feature a 7.9-inch LCD display with 1080p resolution, HDR support, and a 120Hz refresh rate in supported games. When using the docking station, which has fans for additional cooling, console owners will be able to play games in 4K resolution at 60fps.
Nintendo Switch 2 received 256 GB of storage, many times more than the 32 GB in the first version of the console, as well as two USB-C ports that will allow you to connect various accessories and charge the device simultaneously.
The Joy-Con controllers are larger and will connect to the console via magnets. As shown in the first Switch 2 trailer, players will be able to use them as a computer mouse, but mouse mode will only be available in games that support it.
Another new feature on the Nintendo Switch 2 is the “C” button, which provides quick access to the new GameChat feature. It will allow players to communicate with each other via a built-in microphone with background noise filtering. GameChat will also allow users to share their screen without having to be in the same game.
The Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges will be sold in red, but as previously mentioned, the new console will also support cartridges from the previous generation. The console will also support MicroSD Express cards. The original MicroSD from the first Switch will not work.

The company also revealed a slew of games that will be coming to the new console both on launch day and later. In particular, it was announced that The Duskbloods, a new game from FromSoftware, the creators of Dark Souls and Elden Ring, will be released exclusively for the Switch 2 in 2026. The long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong is also scheduled to be released by the end of 2025. In addition, the company revealed a new game in the Donkey Kong franchise. Among the announced ports are Cyberpunk 2077, Hades 2, Split Fiction, Hogwarts Legacy, and many others.
