Another gaming universe is being prepared for a film adaptation - this time it's about the popular mobile games Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. Developer Supercell has teamed up with Netflix to create an animated series based on these titles.
Fletcher Moles, who previously directed the original Clash of Clans animated videos for YouTube, will serve as showrunner. Ron Weiner, known for his work on Silicon Valley , Studio 30, Futurama, and Arrested Development, will serve as head writer.
Recall that Clash of Clans was released in 2012, and its sequel Clash Royale appeared in 2016. According to the developers, both games have over 4 billion downloads and players have spent over 180 billion hours playing them.
The series will center on the character Barbarian, who will try to "assemble a team of misfits to protect his village and cope with the comically absurd politics of war."
The series is currently in pre-production. The release date and cast have not yet been revealed.
By the way, Netflix already has experience with video game adaptations — among them Arcane, Devil May Cry, and others.
