- 1 June, 08:07 PM

Netflix has officially announced the release date for the fifth and final season of the popular series Stranger Things. Like the previous season, the finale will be split into several parts.

The first volume, containing four episodes, will be released on November 26. The second volume, consisting of three episodes, will be released on Christmas Day, December 25, and the final episode will be available on December 31, New Year's Eve.

Along with the premiere dates, Netflix released a teaser that shows what the main characters will face. In the new season of Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will and Max will continue the fight against Vecna, who disappeared after the events of season four. Meanwhile, the US government imposes a military quarantine on Hawkins and intensifies the persecution of Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.

According to The Verge, Netflix originally planned to split the final season into two parts, but the new three-episode format will keep viewers engaged for longer. While this is the conclusion of the main series, Netflix is already working on animated and game spin-offs, details of which have not yet been revealed.

Netflix has launched a countdown to the series' premiere on its website. Starting today, there are 177 days left until the final season launches.
