Less than a month after the end of its licensing deal with Electronic Arts' Codemasters, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has announced a new deal with Nacon, which will see the rally series return in 2027 in a relaunched form.

The new WRC games will be built from the ground up and promise to offer an "epic experience" for rally fans. They will include official races, cars, teams, drivers and sponsors. Nacon already has experience with the series: before Codemasters acquired the license in 2020, the company published official WRC games developed by Kylotonn.

It's not yet confirmed who will be developing the new games, but fans are speculating that Kylotonn will return. Its recent releases have received disappointing reviews, but players say the studio has shown progress. At the same time, some are lamenting the loss of Codemasters, one of the most famous developers of racing games.

Nacon will have exclusive rights to create WRC games for PC and consoles until 2032.

In case you didn't know, Nacon is a French company founded in 1981 as Bigben Interactive. It specializes in the development and publication of video games, as well as the production of gaming accessories.
