All future Google TV remotes will have a Free TV button
Google has announced that all new Google TV devices starting in April will come with a Free TV or Live TV button on their remotes, Android Authority reports. The button will provide quick access to the “Live” tab, where users can watch free TV channels via the Google TV FreePlay platform.
Some devices in the US already have this button. It's located in the center of the remote and stands out in bright blue. Google says the feature has received positive feedback from users, as it provides convenient access to popular shows, movies, and local news.
However, Google said that in markets where the company doesn't offer free TV, the button may be linked to live guides. This is important because the Freeplay feature is only available to Google TV users in the US.
Although the company did not specify the size, color, or location of the button, it is known that device manufacturers will be able to adapt the design of the remotes to their needs.
