Elon Musk is creating his own alternative to Wikipedia based on Grok
The world's richest man, Elon Musk, is planning to create his own alternative to Wikipedia, Grokpedia. The billionaire announced this in response to David Sachs' post on X, where he criticizes Wikipedia for being biased and supported by an "army of left-wing activists," Gizmodo reports.
In response, Musk said his artificial intelligence company xAI would create its own alternative, Grokpedia, which would be a "significant improvement over Wikipedia," and that it was a necessary step in xAI's goal of understanding the universe.
In addition to this, Musk has also previously stated that Wikipedia is too "woke" and wanted to offer an alternative encyclopedia that would provide more "right" facts. He also often refers to Wikipedia as "Wokepedia."
In another post, Musk called on the community to join xAI to help create Grokpedia, “an open-source knowledge repository that is vastly superior to Wikipedia.” He also said that Grokpedia would be public with no restrictions on use.
However, there are some questions about the feasibility of such a platform, especially if it uses Grok, which has repeatedly spread conspiracy theories. In particular, the chatbot xAI spread information about "white genocide" in South Africa. Before that, the AI refused to give answers, which would claim that Musk and Donald Trump are spreading disinformation.
