Elon Musk is leaving the White House and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), but he is not leaving politics. According to ABC News, the billionaire will continue to be an unofficial advisor to US President Donald Trump and will even be able to attend meetings at the White House.
Musk announced on Tuesday that he was leaving his position at DOGE, but the department would continue to operate without him. The official reason for the change was that the billionaire had completed the 130 days he was allowed as a "special government employee." At the same time, his departure coincided with criticism of Trump's bill, which provides for benefits and an increase in the defense budget.
The White House insists that Elon Musk left on good terms with Trump, but the US president has not mentioned Musk once in recent days. Moreover, Donald Trump has practically stopped mentioning Musk in his posts on Truth Social since April, although he did so quite actively at the beginning of his second term.
Despite this, ABC News writes that senior Trump administration officials told the publication that Musk will continue to serve as an unofficial advisor to the US president. At the same time, the billionaire himself stated that he intends to fully focus on his companies, especially Tesla, which is rapidly losing ground in Europe due to competition from Chinese automakers.
