Capcom announced that the latest installment in the company's iconic franchise, Monster Hunter WIlds, has surpassed 10 million copies sold just a month after its release, a record for the Japanese company.
The previous game in the series, Monster Hunter: World, which was released in January 2018, reached 10 million copies sold five years later in December 2022. As of January 2024, the game's sales have exceeded 20 million.
Monster Hunter Wilds was released on February 28, 2025, and has sold eight million copies in just three days since its release. The game attracted over a million players on its first day of release, making Wilds the fifth most-played game on Steam.
At the same time, the release of Monster Hunter Wilds was far from the best. Players complained en masse about bugs and optimization issues, which was known during beta testing a few months before the game's release.
Currently, the game still has a "mixed" rating on Steam based on over 100,000 reviews. Meanwhile, the game has a score of 89 on Metacritic, and a review from Mezha gave Wilds an 8 out of 10.
By the way, the game will receive its first free update on April 4, 2025. It will add new monsters and the Grand Hub, a new settlement within the game where players can meet and communicate with each other.
