Minecraft will get realistic lighting with the VIBRANT VISUALS update

- 25 March, 03:01 PM

Minecraft developer Mojang unveiled a massive graphical update for the game at its Minecraft Live event. The update, dubbed VIBRANT VISUALS, will significantly improve the game's lighting.

The update includes dynamic lighting, improved shadows, water reflections, volumetric fog, changes to underwater visual effects, and many other improvements.

The update will be available soon in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. The classic visual style will remain, and players will be able to switch between different styles.

Mojang released a video showing how Vibrant Visuals works, and the difference between the current look of the game and what it will look like after the update is striking. Sunlight streams through trees and windows, and sunsets paint the locations in golden hues. Shadows lengthen or shorten depending on the position of the sun and other light sources.

Mojang says VIBRANT VISUALS is still in testing for Bedrock Edition, but plans to release an update for Java Edition devices soon.
