During the State of Play presentation, Sony announced that the flight simulator from Asobo Studio and Xbox Game Studios will first appear on the PlayStation 5 console. The release will take place on December 8, 2025, and owners of the enhanced editions will receive early access on December 3.

The PS5 version will retain all the visuals and scale of the original, including over a hundred detailed aircraft, from ultralights to large airliners and military transports. The game uses real-world geographic and weather data, making flights as close to reality as possible.

Sony says that support for the PS VR2 headset is in development and will arrive in 2026 as a free update. At launch, players will get a full set of modes, including career missions - from firefighting and rescue operations to agricultural tasks and aerial construction. There will also be Challenge League competitions, landing tests and global missions.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 joins the list of former Xbox and PC exclusives coming to PS5. Sea of Thieves, Pentium, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Forza Horizon have all been huge hits on the rival platform.
