Microsoft Edge gets new Copilot mode with enhanced AI features

- 29 July, 09:52 AM

Microsoft is launching a new experimental Copilot mode in Edge. It integrates an AI assistant directly into the browser interface, allowing you to search for information, make restaurant reservations, and compare products.

Users can give Copilot access to all open tabs so that the AI can compare hotels or summarize shopping options, for example. In addition, voice navigation has been introduced to search for information and open the desired pages.

Microsoft plans to expand the mode's capabilities by allowing Copilot to access browser history as well as saved credentials — for example, to automatically book a restaurant table or fill out forms.

Copilot mode is seen as an addition to previously implemented features based on Copilot Vision. According to Microsoft Edge VP Sean Lindersay, in the future, Copilot will help structure both current and past user activity in the browser as separate topics for viewing.

While the mode is in beta, the feature is available for free, but with limited usage. Microsoft emphasizes that in the future, Copilot Mode may be included in a paid subscription.

By the way, the new Copilot mode in Edge is optional — you can enable it in the browser settings.
