Microsoft showed off Quake II game created by artificial intelligence
Microsoft has unveiled (via The Verge) a technology demo of Quake II, created using the Muse AI model. The model, developed by Microsoft Research, demonstrates the capabilities of artificial intelligence for generating gameplay. The version is now available through the Copilot for Gaming app and can be run in the browser.
The prototype is a simplified version of Quake II, with limited time to play. Initially, Muse AI ran at 10 frames per second at a low resolution of 300x180 pixels. However, the new demo already offers improved performance with faster frame rates and a resolution of 640x360.
Microsoft plans to use Muse to create game prototypes and adapt classic games like Quake II for modern hardware. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer emphasized that Muse can not only preserve classic games, but also make them available across platforms. In the future, Microsoft plans to expand the collection of interactive games by adding new prototypes based on artificial intelligence.
