Meta plans to develop its own application for interaction with artificial intelligence Meta AI to compete with ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and others. According to anonymous sources, the application will be launched in the second quarter of 2025. This is reported by CNBC.

Unlike its competitors, Meta AI is currently only available to users through the company's website and other apps, such as Facebook and WhatsApp. The company believes that users could potentially interact more deeply with the digital assistant if it were available as a standalone app.

"This is going to be the year when a highly intelligent and personalized AI assistant reaches more than 1 billion people, and I expect Meta AI to be that leading AI assistant," Mark Zuckerberg said during the Q4 2024 financial report.

Meta also plans to test a paid subscription for Meta AI. Meta CFO Susan Lee told analysts that while the company’s efforts in Meta AI are focused on “building a great consumer experience,” there are “pretty clear monetization opportunities here over time, including paid recommendations and including a premium offering.” Lee also said that Meta AI has approximately 700 million monthly active users.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman reacted to the news and joked that the company would consider making its own social network.
