Meta plans to spend $200 billion on AI data center campus — The Information

- 26 February, 06:10 PM

Meta is in talks to build an entire campus of data centers for its artificial intelligence projects. The cost of this could exceed $200 billion, The Information reports.

Meta executives have told data center developers that the company is considering building a campus in states such as Louisiana, Wyoming or Texas. Senior executives visited potential sites this month, according to the report.

Since the launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI with Microsoft support in 2022, investment in AI has skyrocketed as companies across sectors seek to incorporate artificial intelligence into their products and services.

Incidentally, a Meta representative denied this news, stating that plans for data centers and capital expenditures have already been disclosed, and anything beyond that is "pure speculation."

Last month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company plans to spend $65 billion in 2025 to expand its artificial intelligence infrastructure.
