Meta is launching the Meta AI app for quick access to its large Llama 4 language model, which was previously available through the company's other apps, such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.
The company says the app is the first step toward creating a more personalized AI designed for voice conversations. Once the app is installed, Meta AI will start asking users some personal questions to get to know them better and provide more useful answers in the future.
Meta AI’s voice capabilities will run in the background, allowing users to multitask. The app will also feature image creation and editing features that support both voice and text control.
The company also showed off a voice demo built on full-duplex technology that can be toggled on and off for testing. Meta says the technology allows AI to generate real-time voice rather than just text, making communication more natural.
Voice conversations, including a full-duplex demonstration, are currently only available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The Meta AI app is already available on iOS and Android, but it is not yet available for download in Ukraine due to the lack of support for Meta's AI features.
The web version of Meta AI has also received an update: voice control and the Discover feed, like in the mobile app, have appeared. The interface has been adapted for large screens and working at a computer. Image creation has also been improved - more templates have been added and new options for changing style, mood, lighting and color have been added.
