MediaTek has officially introduced the Dimensity 8450 processor, which is the successor to the Dimensity 8400 model, released in December 2024. The new product retained most of the technical characteristics of its predecessor, but received a number of internal improvements.
The new chipset is manufactured using TSMC's second-generation 4nm process, just like the previous model. The architecture of the new product is the same as that of the Dimensity 8400 - one Cortex-X4 core (3.25 GHz), three Cortex-A720 cores (3.0 GHz) and four Cortex-A520 (2.1 GHz). The Mali-G720 MC7 graphics module also remained unchanged, but now it works with StarSpeed Engine technology, which improves the quality of mobile gaming in real time.
Another improvement was the optimization of the ISP module for live broadcasts, as well as for working with 320 MP cameras and HDR images without delays.
The performance of the NPU 880 neural module has also been improved, which, thanks to the Agentic AI Engine, can process artificial intelligence tasks directly on the device. In addition, the chipset modem has received energy-efficient UltraSave 3.0+ technology, which helps reduce power consumption in 5G networks.
The Dimensity 8450 is expected to appear in mid-range and high-end smartphones in the coming months.
