Enthusiasts from Atomic Keyboards have announced the opening of a waiting list for the MDR Dasher Keyboard, inspired by Apple's Severance series. It has an unusual 70% layout and has lost a few important buttons.
The creators of the TV series "The Gap" were inspired by the Data General Dasher terminal, released in 1977. The keyboard was used by employees of the Macro Data Refinement (MDR) division in the series, and now a few more lucky people will be able to purchase it, as the MDR Dasher Keyboard will be released in a limited edition.
The Atomic Keyboards keyboard features an aluminum body and a unique 73-key layout, which is 70% of the standard size configuration. The MDR Dasher Keyboard lacks Escape, Control, and Options keys, but does have a trackball module. In addition, the keyboard is equipped with custom keycaps inspired by the MDR style. A USB-C connector is provided for connectivity, and the keyboard itself is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Atomic Keyboards is currently accepting applications for a waitlist so that users can be notified when the MDR Dasher Keyboard goes on sale. The developers have not yet revealed an official price, but the website lists a crossed-out price of $399, which is likely close to the final price.
