Marvel to reveal new X-Men, Iron Man, and Captain America after Avengers: Secret Wars
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to undergo major changes after the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. According to Kevin Feige, new actors will be hired for the roles of the X-Men, Iron Man, and Captain America, Variety reports.
Kevin Feige, who is the head of Marvel Studios, revealed that the first mutant film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will feature a new cast of actors who have not appeared in Fox films. The actors who played mutants in the 2000s and 2010s films who will be reprising their roles in Avengers: Judgment Day will likely be doing so for the last time.
"We’re utilizing that [story] not just to round out the stories we’ve been telling post-‘Endgame,’ just as importantly — and you can look at the at the ‘Secret Wars’ comics for where that takes you — it very, very much sets us up for the future," Feige told Variety. "‘Endgame,’ literally, was about endings. ‘Secret Wars’ is about is about beginnings."
Feige notes that the new actors for the roles of Tony Stark/Iron Man and Steve Rogers/Captain America will be introduced in the spirit of reboots, as they are with James Bond or Superman. According to him, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans will always remain fan favorites, but the return of the iconic heroes is quite real.
