PlayStation chief architect Mark Cerny revealed that he earned the Platinum trophy in Balatro, a feat achieved by only 0.1% of players. It took him seven months and hundreds of hours to achieve it.

Mark Cerny is known as the lead developer of the PS4 and PS5 consoles. He has also worked on games in the Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, Uncharted, and Knack series. In a post on social media, Cerny thanked the game's creator @LocalThunk for "extremely deep gameplay."

Balatro is a roguelike with poker mechanics that requires strategic thinking and experimentation with decks of cards. Players must build combinations, enhancing them with jokers, planets, vouchers, and other effects. The game was released in 2024, sold over 1 million copies in its first month, and won a BAFTA for Best Debut.

To get Platinum on PlayStation, you need to complete 32 challenging tasks, including beating the game without restarting the store or breaking two glass cards in one hand.
