The President of France celebrated the success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

French President Emmanuel Macron personally congratulated Sandfall Interactive on Instagram on the success of their game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

"One million copies sold and one of the best-reviewed games in history: and yes, it's French! Congratulations to Sandfall Interactive and the creators of Expedition 33. You make the creativity and courage of France shine all over the world," wrote Emmanuel Macron.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the debut role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive, a studio founded by former Ubisoft developers. The game received high critical acclaim (92 on Metacritic) and sold over a million copies in its first three days of release — despite being available on Game Pass from the day of release.
