The new 14-inch MacBook Pro has the M5 chip and up to 24 hours of battery life
Apple introduced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro, which received the M5 chip.
The chip features a next-generation 10-core GPU with a neural accelerator in each core, allowing it to perform AI tasks up to 3.5 times faster than the M4 and up to 6 times faster than the M1.
The new GPU also delivers 1.6x faster graphics and up to 1.6x faster frame rates in games compared to the MacBook Pro with M4. Multi-threaded performance is up 20%. The M5 chip in the laptop also has higher memory bandwidth — 153 Gbps (up from 120 Gbps in the M4).
The new MacBook Pro also features an SSD that is twice as fast as the previous model, and users can choose up to 4TB of storage.
Among other things, the 14-inch MacBook Pro has a Liquid Retina XDR display with Nano-Texture and a peak brightness of 1600 nits HDR and up to 24 hours of battery life. Like other Apple laptops, the new product has a 12 MP webcam with Center Stage, as well as 6 speakers with Spatial Audio support.
The new MacBook Pro with M5 starts at $1,599. It will be available in Space Black and Silver. Pre-orders are now open, and sales will begin on October 22.
Recall that along with the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, Apple also updated the Vision Pro and the iPad Pro line.
