Nintendo plans to make three Legend of Zelda movies
Nintendo recently announced that The Legend of Zelda, the film adaptation of the video game franchise of the same name, will hit theaters in March 2027. According to new reports, it will not be a single film, but a trilogy. This is reported by VGC.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Nintendo and Sony Pictures may be working on a trilogy of films based on The Legend of Zelda. Richtman also notes that all the actors will sign contracts to participate in three films, which will be produced over a six-year period.
The first film will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, a director and Nintendo employee, and Hollywood film production veteran Avi Arad, who was previously the creative director of Marvel Entertainment. Wes Ball, known for the Blade Runner trilogy, will direct, and Nintendo and Arad Productions will produce.
In addition, Production List, a tracking service run by the Film & Television Industry Alliance, has revealed additional details about the first of three possible films. The Legend of Zelda will begin filming in November 2026 in New Zealand and will continue until April 2026. The site also offers a synopsis of the film:
