Microsoft has released an April update for Xbox that makes it easier to free up space on consoles, expands remote play features, and finally adds the long-awaited ability to purchase games through the mobile app.
The ability to purchase games, subscribe to Game Pass, and redeem rewards through the Xbox mobile app was announced back in October 2024. Now users will also be able to pre-install games directly from the app. The feature is currently available to beta users of the app on iOS and Android, but will soon be integrated into the stable version.
Other new features in the April update include simplified space-freeing tools across all Xbox consoles, and users will now be able to launch any game installed on their console via xbox.com/remoteplay on any device with a browser.
In addition, Xbox consoles have updated game hubs that contain all the important information about the selected game - player statistics, achievements, friends currently playing, recent hobbies, available add-ons, events, etc. A new setting has also been added that allows you to launch games immediately, without having to go to the game hub.
We remind you that we previously reported that the ability to stream purchased games has become available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. Unfortunately, this feature requires a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which is not officially available in Ukraine.
