Pop singer-songwriter Katy Perry, along with five other women, launched into space aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket. The flight, dubbed NS-31, was led by Jeff Bezos.

In addition to Perry, passengers included former NASA scientists Aisha Bowe and Amanda Nguyen, journalists Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez (Bezos' fiancée), and film producer Kerianna Flynn. The launch was streamed live on YouTube and the Blue Origin website.

The crew climbed above the Kármán line, which is considered the international boundary of space, to an altitude of more than 100 km. Seven minutes after launch, the rocket landed, and the capsule with passengers touched down three minutes later. By the way, this was the first all-female space flight since Valentina Tereshkova's flight in 1963, when she went on a three-day journey to Earth orbit.
