Jaguar Land Rover delays production launch until October due to cyberattack

- 24 September, 09:49 AM

Premium car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), owned by India's Tata Motors, has announced the extension of the suspension of its British factories until at least October 1, 2025, writes TechCrunch.

The company explained that the decision was made to "ensure transparency" and establish a schedule for a phased recovery. However, the company does not guarantee a launch on this particular day.

The company's factories have been idle for three weeks after a large-scale cyberattack in early September. Hackers stole corporate data, but Jaguar Land Rover has not disclosed what information was compromised. The investigation is ongoing.

JLR spokesman Francis Robertson-Marriott declined to comment on whether there was a specific plan to fully resume production.

The extended downtime is starting to take its toll not only on the company itself, but also on its suppliers, who are reportedly growing concerned about potential financial losses and even bankruptcies if the production disruption drags on.

Jaguar Land Rover is one of the largest employers in the UK automotive industry and a vital link to thousands of supplier companies, so a further extension of the pause could have significant consequences for the entire sector.
