iPhone Air gets 7/10 repairability rating in iFixit teardown
iFixit specialists disassembled the new iPhone Air and rated its repairability at 7 points out of 10. This is the same indicator as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 models, so the reduced thickness did not affect the ease of repair.
According to iFixit, the smartphone has the same battery as the MagSafe Battery Pack. It is easy to remove thanks to a special adhesive — without heat or tools. You can get to the battery through the rear glass panel, without removing the display. The smartphone also has a modular USB-C port, which can be replaced separately.
The iPhone Air is 5.6mm thick, making it Apple's thinnest smartphone. The body is made of titanium with a reinforced center section, but the top and bottom are equipped with plastic inserts for the antennas — these can be weak points when bent.
The iPhone Air has a new A19 Pro chip, C1X modem, and Wi-Fi N1. Compared to the Plus series models, it has fewer speakers and cameras. The design is designed so that all components are easily accessible separately during disassembly. At the same time, according to the results of autonomy, the iPhone Air shows better battery life than the Galaxy S25 Edge, despite the smaller battery size.
Apple has released instructions and original parts for workshops and users. The company notes that by 3D printing titanium elements in the USB-C port, material use has been reduced by 33%. As a result, even with an ultra-thin body, the smartphone is easy to repair, and the available materials and instructions increase its maintainability.
