iPhone 17 is now on sale: hidden features of new models that you don't know about yet

26 September, 09:00 AM

We reveal the secrets of the functionality of Apple's new products and life hacks for using the iPhone 17's potential to the maximum: from Adaptive Power to controlling your smartphone with facial expressions.

On September 26, iPhone 17 sales officially started in Ukraine. This year's lineup is diverse - iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and the brand new Air. You can already buy the new products at Foxtrot, Apple's official reseller, and the prices look like this:

  • iPhone 17 – from 46,799 ₴
  • iPhone 17 Pro – from 63,999 ₴
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max – from 69,999 ₴
  • iPhone Air – from 58,499 ₴

Updated cameras, the new A19 chip, the thin iPhone Air case that is difficult to bend, or the record 2 TB in the Pro Max - all this is important. But no less interesting are the "invisible" capabilities, life hacks and new features of iOS 26 that make using a smartphone even more convenient. We have put together a selection that is worth trying immediately after purchasing or updating the device.

And to make the transition easier, Foxtrot offers a trade-in service called "Foxy Exchange". You bring your old smartphone, a consultant conducts an automated evaluation in 5-7 minutes, and this amount is credited towards the new iPhone. The rest can be paid in cash, by card, or on credit.

Adaptive Power Mode

The new Adaptive Power Mode feature in iOS 26 automatically adjusts system performance to extend battery life. Your phone decides when to limit background processes so you can use your phone for longer without having to turn off essential features.

Continuity Camera 2.0

iPhone 17 easily becomes a webcam for your Mac thanks to Continuity Camera 2.0. Now you can use Center Stage or Studio Light modes for calls and broadcasts, as well as Desk View for capturing your desktop.

Dual Capture for video

The Pro and Air versions support Dual Capture, which allows you to record from the front and main cameras simultaneously. This is convenient for vlogging, interviews, or creating reactions. Combined with 4K120 and the new Genlock stabilization, the video quality is as clear as possible, even in motion.

Facial expression control

iOS 26 introduces the ability to control your smartphone using facial expressions. In "Settings → Accessibility → Head Tracking" you can assign individual actions to raising your eyebrows, blinking your eyes, opening your mouth, or even moving your lips. This works as an additional control method. For example, you can scroll through your TikTok feed with your tongue.

Vibration for contacts

iPhone lets you set unique vibration patterns for individual contacts. For example, longer tones for loved ones, shorter tones for work. Your phone in your pocket will tell you who’s calling before you even look at the screen.

AirDrop at a new speed

Transferring files has become easier thanks to Wi-Fi 7 support in iPhone 17 models. Now even 4K video "moves" to Mac in seconds.

PROVEN USEFUL FUNCTIONS

These are features that have been available in iOS for a long time, but not everyone uses them. They are simple, but they can significantly simplify everyday tasks - from listening to music to working with texts or saving documents.

Timer to automatically turn off music

This feature has been around for a long time, but it's often underrated. If you're used to falling asleep to music or podcasts, the timer lets you stop playback at a selected time. In the morning, your battery will be intact, and you won't wake up to the playlist still playing.

  1. Open the Clock app → Timers tab.
  2. Set the time after which the music should stop.
  3. In the "When finished" field, select "Stop playing."
  4. Start the timer.

Using gestures to edit text

Speed up text editing with gestures. With iPhone, it's easy:

  • Undo action: Swipe left with three fingers or shake your phone.
  • Reverse action: Swipe right with three fingers.
  • Copy text: Pinch three fingers together.
  • Insert text: Spread three fingers apart.

Screenshot for full page

There are times when a regular screenshot isn't enough, like when saving instructions or a long article. In Safari, you can take a screenshot of the entire page and save it as a PDF. This is handy for work, school, or when you need to share information without losing detail. To do this:

  1. Take a screenshot in the Safari browser (press the power button + volume up simultaneously).
  2. In the preview, select "Full Page".
